Novyy (New) Yarychiv is not so “new”, it has an ancient history. Most likely, the name comes from the word “yar” (there are a lot of ravines here). The first settlements on the territory of Yarychiv are attributed to the period of the Komarov and Vysotsk cultures (XV-XII centuries BC). Later settlements are from the period of the Chernyakhiv culture (II-VI centuries AD). There was also a Slavic settlement here. Archaeological excavations by the expedition of the I. Frank Lviv National University indicate that this settlement existed in the VII-IX centuries AD. The Consolidated Galician-Volyn Chronicle, edited by Petrushevych, claims that the ancient Russian town of Yarychiv was founded in 1370.
It is interesting that one of the villages of the community, Pykulovichi, has an Italian trace. Lviv zemstvo judge Petro of Branch and sub-judge Ivan of Vysokoy testify that the Italian Barnaba de Negrono from Genoa, with the consent of King Casimir, recorded his village of Pykulovichi, Lviv district in favor of the altar he had founded in the Lviv Cathedral Church.
The territory of the Novoyarychiv village council is rich in its rivers, and the community is especially attracted by the famous Poltva River in the territory of the village of Borshchovychi (it flows into the Western Bug). The Yarychivka River flows through the settlements of the Zapytiv and Novyy Yarychiv villages. The Dumna River washes the villages of Kukeziv, Didyliv and Ubyni, and the Kapelivka River – Zapytiv. The Semen River flows through the village of Velykosilky, and the Horpynka or Ostruvka – through the village of Nova Lodyna. Numerous forests in the community are a real ecological asset.
