Six fire engines have been handed over to the communities of the Lviv Agglomeration as part of a large-scale humanitarian initiative by the people of Taiwan. The specialized vehicles traveled over 8,000 kilometers to strengthen residents’ safety, enhance their resilience, and improve emergency response times.
The vehicles were delivered to six communities across the Lviv Agglomeration: Pustomyty, Zhovkva, Pidberiztsi, Novyi Yarychiv, Zhovtantsi, and Kulykiv.
Lviv served as the primary coordination hub for this international aid effort. Previously, around 70 Taiwanese rescue vehicles were dispatched to eastern, southern, and central Ukraine to help mitigate the consequences of the war. Now, specialized vehicles have been allocated to meet the needs of the Lviv Agglomeration.
“We have built strong cooperation, share a common bond, hold joint plans, and work side by side. This is an investment in community resilience and enhances our ability to respond effectively to emergencies. It also directly benefits Lviv: our municipality includes outlying settlements and villages bordering your communities. If an emergency occurs and backup is needed, we know we can rely on your support. We express our deepest gratitude, and may this equipment serve the common good of our communities,” said Liubomyr Zubach, Deputy Mayor of Lviv for Urban Planning.
The newly arrived vehicles will address critical local needs, helping crews combat localized fires (particularly wildland and brush fires during hot seasons), respond to traffic accidents, address wartime challenges, and clear damage caused by enemy shelling.
“Vehicles like these are essential both for our community and for our neighbors across the Lviv Agglomeration. We frequently encounter wildfires and dry-grass blazes, especially with the high temperatures seen this summer. Regrettably, structural fires also occur in our settlements. We extend our sincere gratitude to the people of Taiwan for this donation, as well as for the partnership with the Lviv Agglomeration Association, the City Institute, and the Lviv City Council that made this delivery possible. These vehicles will serve our community and will stand ready to assist neighboring areas,” stated Oleh Serniak, Mayor of Pustomyty.
Olena Pavliuk, Head of the Municipal Institution “City Institute,” emphasized that this equipment provides local volunteer fire brigades with the operational capacity to safeguard lives and property throughout the agglomeration every day.
The project was initiated by the Lviv Agglomeration Association and organized by the City Institute in close collaboration with the Lviv City Council.
