To support the creation of a more polycentric structure, ensuring better accessibility for remote areas.

Brief Description of the Problem Addressed by the Project (Justification of Relevance)

The Lviv Agglomeration includes 10 communities encompassing both urban and rural areas that heavily rely on transportation infrastructure to access educational, healthcare, social, and economic services.

The issue is that sparsely populated settlements in the Lviv Agglomeration often face challenges related to transport isolation.

Planned Activities within the Project

  1. Learning from International Experience:
  • Study best practices in sustainable rural mobility and transport integration;
  • Identify adapted solutions for low-density areas within the agglomeration.
  1. Solution Development with Expert Involvement:
  • Engage local authorities, universities, and external mobility experts;
  • Conduct data-driven assessments to identify transport issues and opportunities.
  1. Policy and Tool Enhancement:
  • Improve the existing transport strategy based on the SMOOTY project’s experience;

  • Develop new policy measures tailored to rural and peri-urban mobility needs.
  1. Implementation of Targeted Measures:
  • Identify and prioritize specific mobility projects with defined funding sources;
  • Strengthen institutional cooperation to ensure long-term improvements.

Project Implementation Stage (Completed Activities)

Partnership agreements with project partners and key experts have been signed; a territorial analysis is currently being developed.

Expected Results

Improved accessibility and mobility throughout the agglomeration, especially in rural communities, through the integration of public transport and the development of sustainable transport solutions.
