The first Nordic-Ukrainian Municipal Partnership Forum took place in Lviv on March 25–26, 2026, gathering representatives from more than 60 municipalities across Ukraine, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. With 34 Nordic municipalities in attendance, the focus remained on establishing tangible partnerships, designing joint initiatives, and addressing community challenges through collective action.
The forum proved highly productive for the Lviv Agglomeration. Among the participants were three municipalities from the Gothenburg Metropolitan Area — Alingsås, Kungsbacka, and Kungälv. Our team facilitated working meetings between our communities and these prospective Swedish partners.

The importance of these engagements lies in the transition from initial contact to direct, bilateral cooperation. We are witnessing the continued evolution of a unique model for Ukraine: inter-metropolitan collaboration between the Lviv Agglomeration and the Gothenburg Region. Crucially, this partnership is now being operationalized through specific municipal-level projects.

We express our gratitude to SALAR International and Cities4Cities for their organizational excellence and ongoing commitment to municipal development. We are also deeply grateful to our Nordic counterparts for their transparency, trust, and collaborative spirit.
Moving forward with a systematic approach and a results-oriented mindset.
