In Memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred

We remember our heroes! Here is how their native communities remembered them:

Velykyy Lyubin community

“Today, Ukraine honors the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred – one hundred and seven fallen participants of the Revolution of Dignity and Maidan activists.

It was on February 20, 2014, that the largest number of people died in the center of Kyiv – 48. They, along with the other 54 dead and mortally wounded participants of peaceful protests during the winter of 2013-2014 and five Maidan activists who died in the spring of 2014 for the democratic values and territorial integrity of Ukraine, were named Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.

They gave their lives protesting against the intentions to return the country to the Russian yoke and deprive it of a European future. Thanks to their sacrifice, Ukraine won its first victory in the battle that continues to this day. Let us be worthy of their memory – let us defend ours!

Horodok community

“We remember the Heroes of Ukraine’s first victory in the decisive battle that continues. On the Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, we honor everyone who was there where the fate of the Ukrainian people was decided and gave their lives for its freedom and dignity. Among them are our fellow countrymen. Ivan Blyok, Volodymyr Zherebny, Volodymyr Topiy – an example of indomitability and self-sacrifice.

We bow our heads low before the memory of the Heroes. Their feat is a measure of the true price of independence and freedom. They were paid for with the lives of the best sons and daughters of Ukraine.

Our Heroes are forever in our memory and hearts. May their courage and sacrifice be an inspiration in the further struggle and lead our people to Victory! Glory to Ukraine and its Heroes! ”

“In modern Ukrainian history, February will forever be remembered as a month of blood shed for our freedom.

On February 20, on the Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, we bow our heads, paying tribute to their feat. Indomitable Ukrainians, worthy sons and daughters, still hold shields of defense in the face of the enemy, who insidiously destroys not only our state, but also human destinies. We always remember at what price we gain the opportunity to simply live on our native land. Glory to the Heroes! ”

“Thank you all, victorious brothers,

A low bow from the heart to the earth,

You did not light a fire on the street,

But in the heart of everyone a thirst for struggle!

Thank you for every day and minute,

That you spent on the Maidan!

You protected the entire people and the country

From the black poisonous plague…

“The memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred was honored in Lviv.

A joint prayer and a silent action “Angels of Memory” were held at the Memorial of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.

Traditionally, master classes on making paper angels were held in Lviv schools the day before. Today, schoolchildren, families of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, military and The city community hung carvings on the memorial in memory of those who died during the Revolution of Dignity. Bright memory to the Heroes of Ukraine.

Kulykiv Community

“Heroes died during the Revolution of Dignity in the fight for the ideals of democracy, human rights and freedoms, and the European future of Ukraine.

The fight continues… and now new Heroes continue to fight for the ideals of freedom, independence, and human values. And the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred must be alive and form the awareness of everyone’s responsibility for the future of Ukraine. We bow our heads low in mournful silence before the bright memory.

It is a sacred duty for us, the living, not to forget, to remember!

Eternal and bright memory…

Glory to Ukraine! Glory to our Heroes! Glory to the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred!”

“Today, February 20, on the Day of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, we honored the memory of the fallen Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, and in their person all the Ukrainians who died then, who are dying today during the Russian-Ukrainian war. This day became a symbol not only of the tragic events of the Revolution of Dignity, but also of the indomitability of the Ukrainian spirit, which continues to manifest itself in the fight against Russian aggression. Joint prayer united us in mourning for those who gave their lives for the freedom and European future of Ukraine.

The Heavenly Hundred is not just a tragic page of history, it is a symbol of the indomitability of the Ukrainian spirit. Their sacrifice is a pain that will never fade, but at the same time it is a source of national pride. They became a model of courage, devotion and love for Ukraine. Future generations must remember the heroic feat of the Heavenly Hundred and the newest Heroes, especially in the conditions of the ongoing war, which again takes the lives of Ukrainian Defenders. Therefore, it is so important that the memory of the Heroes lives on, because they gave the most valuable thing – their lives for us and Ukraine. No matter how difficult the trials are, no matter what difficulties we face, we are sure: despite everything, we will definitely win! Eternal memory to the fallen Heroes! Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes! Heroes do not die!
